TMJ Massage:

The Temporomandibular joint (otherwise known as the TMJ) is the jaw and for many people can be a problem area. Muscles of mastication often get overworked, the muscles and joint can get inflammed and irritated. Treatment of the TMJ can help with headache pain, jaw pain, limited jaw opening, locking, grinding, clenching, jaw clicking, tinnitus and  head forward posture. A TMJ massage will involve both the external and internal structure of the jaw. Treating the neck, anterior shoulders, head, temples, cheeks and intra-orally with gloves on the attachment points of the massetter and temporalis muscles to help relieve muscle tension, pain and dysfunction. Often back of the mouth tooth pain can be related to a trigger point in the muscles of the jaw that gives a phantom feeling as though you have a cavity. Many patients have gone to their dentist to no avail only to find nothing is wrong with their teeth but in fact they just have muscle tension. Relief can be gained through TMJ massage.
